Lawrence “Larry” Klinzing passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on October 12, 2023 at the age of 86. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Larry, a native of Pennsylvania, graduated from Conemaugh High School in 1956. Following his graduation, Larry proudly served in the Navy as a Seabee during the Vietnam War, where he played a pivotal role in constructing roads, storage facilities, bunkers, and other essential structures for the support of his fellow service members. During his service, Larry and his family traveled to various destinations, including Cuba, Morocco, and Wales. He spoke fondly of his time spent with the locals and enjoying their home cooked meals. After being honorably discharged in 1983, Larry spent many more years working in maintenance, earning the reputation of a “Jack of All Trades.”
Larry’s leisure activities included participating in the church softball league, golfing, fishing, enjoying westerns, listening to music, and cherishing moments with his expanding family.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Pauline Klinzing, as well as his siblings, William, Net, and Marion.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kathi Klinzing, his son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Michelle Klinzing, his daughter and son-in-law, Nadine and Max Rios; his grandchildren: Jacklyn Seikel, Dale and Amanda Nichols, Erika and Dominic Weimer, Andrew and Katy Durr, Amanda and Mike Wright; his great-grandchildren: Janelle, Jeffrey, Grace, Noah, Tyler, Brayden, Olesia, Landon, and Sophia.
Larry will forever be remembered for his wisdom, unwavering work ethic, sense of humor, and relentless support for his family. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him, and he will be deeply missed by all.
A service commemorating his life will be held on Monday, October 30th, 2023, at 2:15 p.m. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, located at 10175 Rawiga Rd., Seville, OH 44273. Family and friends will gather following the service at Cuyahoga Falls Church of the Nazarene, 330 E Bath Rd., Cuyahoga Falls, OH, 44223.
