Lewis Nolan Lossing, age 82, passed away on January 25th in Massillon, Ohio. He was born in Akron, Ohio, in 1941, and was a proud graduate of the Buchtel High School Class of 1959. Lewis furthered his education at the University of Akron, earning three degrees that laid the foundation for a successful and fulfilling life.
Lewis served his country with honor in the United States Navy from 1966 to 1970, where he was assigned to the USS Compass Island. His dedication and service were exemplary, reflecting his commitment to duty and love for his country.
For 33 years, Lewis contributed his skills and expertise as an Information Technology Specialist at the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. His career took him and his family to distant lands, including Belgium and Turkey, where he made lasting contributions to the field while fostering a global perspective.
A true adventurer at heart, Lewis was a world traveler who, alongside his beloved wife Kay, embarked on two world cruises, creating cherished memories that would last a lifetime. Lewis was an avid reader, a tech enthusiast, and a lifelong learner, always eager to explore new horizons and embrace the wonders of the world.
Lewis was a devoted family man, finding immense joy in spending time with his loved ones. He leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and unwavering support. Lewis was preceded in death by his son, Neil Eric Lossing and granddaughter, Madeline Kay Buckerfield.
Lewis is survived by his wife of 58 years, Kay (Marsden) Lossing; daughter, Kimberly (Lossing) Buckerfield; son, Matthew Lossing; daughter-in-law, Becky (McCutcheon) Lossing; daughter-in-law, Holly (Jones) Lossing; son-in-law, William Buckerfield; grandchildren, Emily Lossing, Duncan Buckerfield, Tristen Lossing, Lola Lossing, and Quinn Lossing; brother, Mark Nathanson; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
An internment ceremony for Lewis will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, OH. Details for a memorial service will be announced at a later date, allowing friends and family to come together to celebrate Lewis' life.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Lewis' name to United Disability Service of Akron - Low Vision Services at 701 S. Main Street, Akron, OH 44311, honoring his commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of others.
Lewis Nolan Lossing will be remembered for his kindness, intellect, and the love he shared with those fortunate enough to have known him.
