Louella Jane (Long) Powell passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, July 20, 2015. Louella was born January 11, 1949 in Spangler PA and spent most of her childhood in Uniontown PA (Green Township, Indiana County). She spent most of her adult life in the Cleveland/Parma, Ohio area.
Louella worked as a cashier at Woolworths, Old Time Pottery and Wal-mart where she retired in 2013. She was an avid reader; reading all kinds of books and other reading material. She enjoyed doing crosswords and word find puzzles and always carried a bag with these and a couple of books with her.
Louella was very thoughtful and was always buying little gifts for her loved ones; things she knew that would mean something to them.
She attended Hope Church in Brunswick Ohio and was a member of the Indiana Chapter 1260 of Women of the Moose (Pennsylvania).
Louella was the beloved mother of Wayne Powell and friend Carrie Graf, Susan Powell and friend Samuel Reed, Dennis Powell Sr., and Terri Powell and friend Hattie Swiat. Beloved grandmother to 15 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brother, Leroy (Janette) Long, Iselin, PA, sister Linda (Dee) Gardner, Pine Flats, PA and several nieces and nephews.
Louella was preceded in death by her parents Gilbert (Johnny) Long and Geraldine (McQueeney) Long, her brother Leonard Long, daughter-in-law Kristina “Cheryl” Powell and special friend Lou Pitonyak.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 23, 2015 at 8 p.m. at Hope Church 1905 Pearl Rd. Brunswick, Ohio where the family will receive friends for refreshments from 7-8 p.m. Pastor Eric McAdams officiating.
