NORTON – Louis G. Pastor, 80, of Norton, Ohio, left us peacefully Thursday December 29th, 2022
He was born in Akron, September 22nd, 1942. Louis graduated from Norton High School in 1961. He settled in Norton with his wife Madalyn in 1972. His lifelong career was with Ohio Bell and he retired from Ameritech with 35 years of service. Louis became a licensed ham radio operator at a young age. His call sign was K8RMN. Over the years he won a multitude of contests and made friends around the world.
Later in life, Louis developed a deep passion for cycling. He built bicycles from the bare frame to every last component. Thanks to much dedication and training, he was able to complete several century rides, GOBA, XOBA and many longer camping tours in the tri-state area. Though slowing down, he never stopped pedaling and we were fortunate to ride many miles of the Towpath with him. One of his favorite pastimes was reading and studying history. He spent a few years after retirement at Hale Farm and Village as a first-person interpreter named Mr. Bower. Maple sugaring and basket weaving were a couple of his jobs on the farm. He loved playing guitar and harmonica for us and played some open-mic nights at Houston Pub. He also was a poet at heart. Putting pen to paper, several of his poems are copyrighted and a couple have been published. Always a lover of nature, he learned bushcraft skills. Primitive fire-making was his joy, and he often hiked off the beaten path to make coffee and simple meals on his Solo Stove.
Many of you may know him by his witty personality. No matter the subject of conversation, you could be sure it would remind him of a joke. Timing and presentation are most important in humor, and he was a master of both.
Dad, Papa, Louis, Gordy… you will be missed.
Louis is preceded in death by his wife Madalyn and parents Louis and Norma Pastor.
He is survived by his children Kathryn (Nick) Maximovich, Richard (Stephanie) & Stephen (Pavla) Pastor. Grandchildren Natasha and Nicholas Maximovich; Jordan (fiance’ Bobby), Joshua (Hailey), Logan Pastor. Beloved partner Ruthann. Sister Carolyn and many, many friends.
A Private family gathering is taking place. A celebration of Louis’ life will be announced at a later date. Contact

The Paths We Take
Throughout life we travel,
paths that cross, merge, and
separate. Each trail points us
in a new direction and
leads to a distant horizon.
Not all paths are straight,
but coming around each curve
we see a fantastic vista –
one more beautiful than the last.
We are blessed our paths
converged with yours;
thankful that you walked
with us for a while.
We’ll meet up with you again,
beloved companion
on life’s journey.
