Lucia Camila Guerra, 97 years of age, of Akron, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, August 17
th
, 2021. Lucia was born on January 7
th
, 1924, to Obdulio Tuya and Maria Anton-Fernandez in Vieja Linda, Cuba. She moved to the United States on December 21
st
, 1965, and became a proud American Citizen shortly after. Lucia also spent a long time residing in both Providence, Rhode Island and Hialeah, Florida. She worked hard for everything she had and was a blessing to everyone who knew her. Lucia always had a story of the “old country” and other life lesson stories to tell. Lucia was well known by the name (given by Michelle), “Mima”, which translates to “My Mother”. She was passionate about her family and loved ones, loved to fill her home with warmth and kindness; tend to her gardening, painting and playing bingo at Ohio Living Rockynol, where she had made a lot of loving friends.
She was also very involved in the raising of her granddaughter, Michelle McCarthy, daughter of Jorge and Rosemarie McCarthy.
Lucia was predeceased by her husband, Julio and siblings, Aida, Ramon and Yolanda.
She is survived by sons, Jorge (Karla) and Julio (Sonia) Guerra; granddaughters, Michelle (Yance Jovon Brent) McCarthy, Stefanie (Melvin Johnson II) Santos, Talia and Dalia (Karla); grandson, Jorge Jr. (Karla); great grandchildren, Joshua Garcia, Kiara and Arianna Lee; mother of Michelle, Rosemarie McCarthy.
The family requests that all flowers and notes are sent to 487 Castle Blvd, Akron, Ohio 44313. Services are being planned to take place in Hialeah, Florida.
