Margaret L. Bell

Margaret L. Bell, born December 19, 1925, passed away January 10, 2025 at the age of 99. She was born in Youngstown, Ohio, graduated from Struthers High School and Youngstown College where she was the 1947 May Queen. She was an elementary school teacher in Youngstown for 20 years before moving to the Massillon area, where she worked in her family’s business office until her 90s. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, embroidering, and golf, taking it up at the age of 50. She and her husband were longtime members of Alliance Country Club and the Congress Lake Country Club. 

Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Hilda Nicewaner who housed and helped her to raise her young sons with the passing of her first husband William W. Parmenter II, husband of 63 years Robert R. Bell, Jr., son Robert R. Bell III, brother-in-law William G. (Bill) Bell, sister-in-law Ruth Girlando, sister-in-law Marion Strain, brother-in-law Shelley Strain, recently nephew William G.(Rusty) Bell, Jr (wife Kirsten Dell) as well as life-long friend Cathy Lynch. She is survived by children, William W. (Bill) Parmenter III, Lynda Bell and Bruce Bell, all of California; Robert H. (Bob) Parmenter (wife Nancy) of Lewis Center, Ohio, Martha Richards (husband Joe) of North Canton, Ohio, and Margaret (Molly) Shuya (husband Terry) of Jacksonville, Florida; 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren; brother-and-sister-in-law Brian and Brenda Bell of the Villages, Florida, nieces Beth (husband Wally) Domoracki of Columbus, Ohio, Kristen Bell of Delaware and nephew David Strain (wife Barb) of Florida; and faithful friends, Dennis and Brenda Murphy, who visited mom until the very end..

Margaret was a delightful, warm, witty and welcoming woman, always interested in getting to know other people and their stories. She was a devoted Mother and friend who was deeply loved by many, and she will be greatly missed. The family wishes to extend thanks to the staff of the Canton Regency and Aultman Hospice and Palliative Care. A private service to be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Faith Kitchen c/o Faith United Methodist Church (North Canton), Aultman Hospice, or the American Cancer Society.
