Marie “Billie” Mcfadden

MARIE “BILLIE” McFADDEN August 19, 1930 – January 26, 2014. Dearly loved wife of John for 60 years; treasured mother of Deborah (Bridget) and David (Donna), dear Grammie Billie of Tatyana, Hannah, Ruthi, Jess, Chelsea, Hope, Carly, Jack, Carter and Alexander; and cherished friend to so many. Born to Howard and Helen Linstead, Billie grew up in Boston and on Cape Cod. As a young woman, she earned her Girl Scout Gold Star and earned a degree in Education from Bridgewater State College. She met her husband John waiting tables one summer on Cape Cod, starting a life together that eventually took them to Cleveland, where they raised their family. Billie was active in both church and civic organizations, most notably, in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Being a diabetic, Billie poured her endless energy and passion into the effort to find a cure for Diabetes and to help others, mostly children, learn how to live with Diabetes courageously. For all her notable contributions in life, her dearest love was for her husband, her children and her grandchildren, all of whom will miss her beyond measure. We thank God for the gift of her and that her fight with Diabetes and, later, Alzheimer’s, are done. “God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; for the former things are passed away.” Revelation 21:4. MEMORIAL SERVICE 11 A.M. SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 1 at University Circle United Methodist Church, 1919 East 107th St., Cleveland 44106.
