Martha Elizabeth Hess (Nee Delaney)

Martha Elizabeth Hess (nee Delaney) age 78, peacefully passed away on June 22, 2021 at University Hospital in Cleveland.  She was born in Wilkesville, Ohio to the late Alva and Mary (Mae) Delaney.  She married the love of her life, Denver Vernon Hess in 1961.  Martha was affectionally known as Sis by many of her family and friends.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, her pets, reading, doing puzzle books, watching Wheel of Fortune/Jeopardy, crocheting and hunting down a good bargain.  Martha had a strong relationship with the Lord and in her later years enjoyed watching church services on television as well as attending in person.

A 1961 graduate of Wilton High School, she later graduated from the Wooster Business College with an Associate’s degree in Accounting.  Martha was a homemaker and would occasionally work outside the home primarily doing direct sales.  Martha was a member of Mustangs, TOPS and Eagles in the past.

She is survived by her children, Jeffrey Hess of Mansfield, Ohio, Karrena (Gale) Hess of Gallipolis, Ohio, and Nicholas Hess of Toledo, Ohio; grandchildren, Joshua Sprague, Chad (Brittany) Haven, Hannah Hess; great-grandmother of Braxton; sister of Allen (Patricia) Delaney and special aunt of Sharon and survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband; siblings, Alva Delaney (Junior) and Virginia Reeves, as well as a special niece, Lynn Reeves.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 26 at TJ’s Restaurant in Wooster, OH from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm. Family and friends are welcome to attend.   A graveside service will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Coalton, Ohio at a later time.   In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Wilkesville First Presbyterian Church, 107 S. High Street, P.O. Box 137, Wilkesville, OH 45695-0137.
