Mavis Marlene Ware (Mohr) Obituary

Mavis (Mae) died on March 10, 2016 at Huntington Woods Nursing Home in Westlake, Ohio at the age of 80.  Mae was born in Melvin, Iowa on December 4, 1935; she lived on a farm and moved to Sheldon, Iowa in 1948 where she was able to enjoy the luxury of having indoor plumbing.  Mae graduated from Sheldon High School in 1954 (Orabs Forever) where she learned to perfect her famous “Orab push shot” on the basketball courts.  Mae graduated from Minneapolis General Hospital School of Nursing (Now Hennepin County Hospital) in 1957 and married Ronald Wareon August 31, 1958.  Mae was a loving mother to five children.  The family moved throughout the United States to locations including Seattle, WA, Minneapolis, MN, Peoria IL, Hastings MN, and finally to Fairview Park, OH where she resided for over 40 years.   Mae retired from nursing in 1990, her last position was with West Haven Foundation (Welcome House).Mae enjoyed retirement and life in general.  She had an adventurous spirit and loved traveling.  Trips included Israel, Egypt, Alaska, Europe, Australia, andvarious destinations throughout the United States.  Mae loved to play games especially with her children and grandchildren.  She was known to be incrediblycompetitive (i.e. spoons in Maumee Bay). She was active with several bridge clubs,book clubs, and the Fairview Senior Center.

Survived by her children; Chris Ware (Michelle) of Pittsburg PA, Steve Ware of Fairview Park, Susan Schuler (Brian) of Westlake, Marilyn Abood (Dave) of Rocky River, Doug Ware (Jennifer) of Plymouth MI, and grandmother to eleven; Renee & Tyler Ware, Melissa & Drew Ware, Mike & Mark Schuler, Tristan & Teghan Abood, Alex, Adam, & Ryan Ware, as well as nephews; Gary DeBoom (Suzanne) of Sioux Falls, SD, Kermit DeBoom (Pam) of Sibley, IA.

Proceeded in death by; Ronald Ware, her parents Otto and Margaret Mohr, sister Mary DeBoom and her infamous dog, Poochie Ming.

Services will be held at Bay Presbyterian Church – 25415 Lake Road, Bay Village, OH 44140 – (440) 871-3822 on Friday, March 18 at 11am followed by a luncheon.
