Michael A. Cottrell, 63 of Uhrichsville, Ohio passed away on October 11, 2022 while surrounded by his loving family in the Community Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia, Ohio after an extended illness.
Anyone that knew Mike always said that He was one of the “Good Guys”. Mike was born August 18th, 1959 to Judy Cottrell-Edwards and the late Ralph Cottrell who passed away in March, 1983. Mike was a lifelong resident of the Twin Cities, a 1978 graduate of Claymont High School. Mike was a hard worker, He started at the Great Plains Bag Factory while still attending high school and continued working after it became Stone Container for 35 years until it closed in 2014. He continued to work until his health prevented it.
Above all else, Mike loved his family dearly. On June 28th, 1986, Mike married the love of his life and best friend Darlene (Ziemer) Cottrell and together they enjoyed 36 years of marriage. Their favorite times were spending vacations at the beach with their family.
Mike and Darlene have four children; Brandi Cottrell of Beach City and her three children, Jarod, Kaylie and Drake, Michelle Wengerd (Keith) and her two children, Mady and Bryson Alicia Carpenter (Ryan) and their two daughters, Hadley and Blakely Michael Cottrell (Elisha) and their 4 children, Aaliyah, Brandon, Braxton and Brody. Mike is also survived by his siblings, Lori Cottrell (Lonny) and their daughter Alyssa Melinda Grant (Greg) and their children Ethan and Emily Kurt Cottrell (Rachelle) and their children Jenna(Kyle), Jordan (Madeleine) and Braden; 3 sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, Becky, Sarah, Darlene’s twin sister Debbie and Rodger and their families.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, stepfather, Timothy Edwards and his Mother-in-law and Father-in-law James and Willadean Ziemer.
In keeping with Mike’s wishes cremation will occur. A Celebration of Life for Mike will be planned for a later date. Mike’s family would like to thank the staff at the Community Hospice House for their excellent care and compassion.
