Michael James Shehl

Michael James Shehl passed away Sunday, September 27, 2020 at home in Akron, Ohio.  He was born March 16, 1962 in Akron, Ohio. Mike was a truck driver for 30 years; he drove a big rig everywhere, including Canada, and Mexico. His favorite trips were long hauls to the painted deserts.  He spent his home time gardening, fishing, listening to “good Southern Rock ”, watching movies, and sports. He was a huge sports fan, especially college football. Mostly, Mike was a Christian man, who enjoyed the serenity and solitude of nature.

He is preceded in death by his father, Michael John Shehl who was killed in Vietnam (1967); his mother, Penny Simmons; and his grandparents, Robert and Audrey (Nanny) Hathaway.

He is survived by his daughter, Sandra Shehl; granddaughter, Madeline Shehl; brother, Robert Simmons; sisters, Susan Santilli and Tammy; beloved aunt and uncle, Pat and Gary Holl;  nieces and nephews;  great nieces and nephews, and many, many cousins and friends; he will be missed by many.  Mike loved them all.

The family would like to thank the Hospice Nurses, and other Caregivers for the loving, and kind care they showed him.  Per Michael’s request there will be no service. He will be cremated and returned to family.
