Mildred Cecilia (Dishong) Westfall
Mildred Cecilia (Dishong) Westfall age 94 passed away on March 14th, 2017. She was born in
Vintondale, Cambria County, PA on March 24, 1922. She was the daughter of Oscar Dishong and Frances Donahue. granddaughter of Noah Dishong and Amanda Rose of Cambria County, PA and Jacob Donahue and Maria Braddock of Indiana County, PA.
She loved music (especially polka) as well as reading, traveling and spending time with
her family. She was fearless and always ready for an adventure. Well into her elder years she took her first motorcycle ride, hot air balloon ride and helicopter ride. She loved children and was affectionately known as the candy lady as every neighborhood child knew she kept her candy dish full and would stop to chat on a daily basis and get a treat. She loved all of God’s creatures rescuing many through the years. She always said a house is not a home without a dog so there was always a loyal 4 legged companion by her side that was loved and doted on. There will be quite the reunion at the Rainbow Bridge. She will be remembered for her kind and giving heart and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She worked at Oak Rubber in Ravenna supporting the war effort during World War II before marrying Gora Commadore Westfall on February 20th, 1946. She then became a busy homemaker raising their 4 children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gora, in 1974 and her son, Robert in 1980. Also preceded
in death by her brothers, Robert, Charles, Carl and John, sisters Dorothy Dishong and Marie Kinter.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Brenda (Larry) Repass, Janice Westfall, and Marcia (Doug) Corzine.
She leaves behind her four grandsons, Larry Repass, Jr, Eric (Wanda) Repass, Bryan (Brianne) Corzine, Jason (Caitlin) Corzine and granddaughter Kristen. Four great-grandsons, James Commadore Repass, Xavier Repass , Colton Corzine, Gavin Corzine, and two great granddaughters, Bianca Pleasant and Phlyce Repass .
Cremation has taken place per her wishes with a graveside service to take place at a later date. If you’d like to do something in her memory a donation can be made to your local animal shelter. Condolences and special memories can be shared with the family at
