Mitchell A. Filing Jr., 68, died peacefully on June 29
th
at Akron City Hospital.
Mitchell is survived by his two children, Tony and Amy Filing, and his three siblings, Connie Shoff, Phil Filing, and Valerie Turner. He also leaves behind two grandchildren, Mitchell and Jack Filing, along with several friends and loved ones. Mitchell is preceded by his wife, Rita Filing.
Mitchell is a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and served honorably in the Vietnam War. Mitchell was born in Akron Ohio to the parents of Mitchell and Dora May Filing. He spent most of his life in the Portage Lakes area. Mitchell was a dedicated electrician and was a member of the IBEW Locals 306 and 11.
Services will be held on Monday, July 18
th
at 11:00 am at the Cornerstone Church followed by his interment at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project. Condolences and special memories may be shared online at
