Nancy Lee Smith

Nancy Lee Smith, lovingly known as Nance , Mom, and "MomMom," passed away on April 2, 2025, in Louisville, Ohio, at the age of 63. Born on August 18, 1961, in Canton, Ohio, Nancy lived a life defined by devotion—to her family, her work, and the many lives she touched along the way.

For over two decades, Nancy dedicated herself to her career as a Certified Medical Coder. With an associate degree in Medical Assisting, she brought diligence and professionalism to her work every day. Her commitment to excellence and her strong work ethic earned her the respect of colleagues and clients alike.

Nancy shared 42 beautiful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Jeffrey Smith. Together they built a life filled with love and laughter. She was a devoted mother to Heather (Tim) Parsons and Joseph (Nicole) Smith. Her role as “MomMom” brought her immense joy—she cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren: Taylor Smith; Connor Parsons; Caleb Parsons; Brycen Smith; Brantley Smith; and Brexton Smith.

She is also remembered by her sister Betty (Jerry) Barr. Nancy was preceded in death by her Mother Peg, Father John, and Stepfather Jim.

Nancy’s heart overflowed with love for her family—and for the many dogs who were apart of our family over the years. Her affection for her puppies Evie, Tilly, Remmie, Elijah, grand pup Daisy, Bella, Winston, and many others was boundless. They brought comfort and companionship into her life and were cherished members of her home.

A passionate and loving woman through and through, Nancy's warmth radiated in every hug she gave and every smile she shared. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nancy’s memory to the Stark County Humane Society in Canton, Ohio—a cause close to her heart.
