Nancy V. Steffy, 80 of Canton, OH and formerly of Alliance, OH passed away Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Bethany Nursing Home in Canton, where she had briefly been a patient. Nancy was born March 7, 1936 in Fremont, OH to Thurlow and Lela (Seiger) Vickery. Nancy was a 1954 graduate of Alliance High School and a 1984 graduate from the Kent State School of Nursing.
Nancy Steffy served in various hospitals and nursing homes in the Stark County area as a registered nurse for more than twenty years. She had been a member of the Buckeye Council Boy Scouts of America receiving the Wapakonachee District Award of Merit. She was a long time member of the Elks Auxiliary in Alliance, OH.
Nancy is survived by a daughter, Jolyne (Matthew) Archer of Derby, KS, two sons, Thurlow T. ‘Chip’ (Janet) Steffy of Rockford, OH and Kevin C. (Donna) Steffy of Arlington TX, eight grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, William (Nancy) Vickery of Middleton, WI and Jon ‘Skip’ Vickery of Winchester, KY.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, William T. Steffy of Alliance in 1979, two grandchildren, two sisters, Patricia and Sally, and one brother, Thomas.
