Patricia Gerber, lovingly referred to as Patty, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2024 following a brief illness. Born on June 15, 1948, she was the beloved daughter of the late Joyce and Robert Baum. Patty was preceded in death by her brother Danny and sister Peggy. She is survived by her sisters Joyce (Donnie) Rufener and Roberta (Ronnie) Rufener.
Patty was married to Glen Gerber for 48 wonderful years and was a devoted mother to Vanessa (Nick) Johnson, Jody Gerber, and Heather (Bill) Turner. She cherished her role as a grandmother to Cameron, Billy, Hannah, and Evie, often spoiling them with love and affection.
A graduate of Midvale High School in 1966, Patty worked as a telephone operator and dispatcher at GTE for 28 years before continuing her career as a telephone operator at Union Hospital for another 20 years. A member of the Ruslin Hills Church, Patty sang in the church choir. Her beautiful soprano voice could captivate the room as she sang many solos over the years. She was well known for her famous creamed chicken sandwiches and her Christmastime cookies. Patty will be dearly missed by all of her family, but especially by her husband, Glen. The two were rarely ever apart. They spent their free time going to Dover High School Football games, watching races at Midvale Speedway, going for leisurely drives and stopping for ice cream cones along the way. Patty and Glen were always up for playing dice and card games with friends and family. They also traveled to the beach any chance they could get, a favorite for Patty. She loved the sand between her toes.
In following her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services. A celebration of Patty's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Truman House of Hospice in New Philadelphia. Condolences and special memories of Patty can be shared witth her family online at www.heritagecremationsociety.com
