Our loved one, Paul A. Valley fought a brave battle with leukemia and was looking forward to reclaiming his life after a recent bone marrow transplant. Surrounded by family, he passed on Friday, August 19th, 2022. Paul was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many. Susann Valley is the devoted love of his life, and together celebrated 43 years of marriage. He is also survived by children Aaron (Jennifer) Valley, Rochell (James Peter) Otto, Christopher (Brittany) Valley, Deanna (Jason) Valley, and grandchildren Brennen, Blake, Jeremiah, Grayson, Brady, Olivia, Samuel and Bella.
In high school, Paul established life-long friendships being involved in theatre and electronics class. He was a proud member of the Drum and Bugle Corps as a drummer. He also met his best friend’s sister, which planted the seeds for a treasured marriage of many years with Susann. They shared the love of four children together, and infused their fondness of nature into them.
Paul enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, preferably outdoors. He would want to camp, take a hike, bike ride or take fishing trips as a group whenever possible. Paul was even remembered as waking up his entire family at the wee hours of the morning to lay in the silence of night, to just share the experience of watching meteor showers amid the stars. But, Paul would also take anyone out to HAM (amateur radio operator) field days and expose them to his techy intrigues, and connecting them to people around the world.
Paul worked to build his company Valley Video for 25 years, which turned into a position at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo as the Interactive Electronic Technician. Here, he was impassioned by being able to interact with the animals and trainers, all while still saving the technology of the day. Paul would commonly share that he was the one who “made the Rainforest rain.” He loved the job at the Zoo which allowed him to consistently be the person to stop and help someone in need.
Medical issues led to Paul’s early retirement. From heart issues, a rare form of leukemia cancer to a complete bone marrow transplant, he never stopped trying to use his days productively on others. Even to getting an attachment for his SUV so he could plow the driveways of people without charge. Paul was deliberate and determined to touch the lives of anyone he met every day. His giving spirit will be remembered and hopefully be passed on, as he would wish.
All welcome 6pm-8pm, Friday, August 26 at Grace CMA Church, Middleburg Hts. Memorial service at 6:30pm.
