Paul Myers, 63, of East Canton, Ohio, passed away on August 31, 2022 after a brief illness. Paul was born on November 23, 1958 in Frankfurt-on-Main, West Germany. He was adopted by Robert E. and Pauline E. (Dressler) Myers of East Canton, Ohio on October 31, 1962. After Paul graduated from East Canton High School in 1977, Paul went on to attend college at Akron University where he earned a bachelor’s degree. Afterwards, Paul attended Anderson School of Theology and earned a Master’s of Divinity. Paul excelled in several vocations including insurance sales, trucking, preaching, and running a sound board.
Paul loved dogs and above all, Paul loved to bicycle. His biking exploits garnered many friends and new-found family in Dover, Cincinnati, Knoxville (TN), Marion (IN), Minnesota, and many towns and cities in between. The willing and designated tire repair guy on every ride, he could routinely change a road tire in record time.
A member of East Canton Church of God, Paul loved Jesus and lived for Him. His smile and attitude of kindness demonstrated Christ’s love for those whom Paul served. Ultimately, Paul demonstrated to those around him what it meant to finish strong.
Paul is survived by his mother, Pauline, a brother, his two nephews, Chris and Dylan Myers, along with many friends like family – especially Cindy Nelson, Sharon Tallman, Eric and Tracy Langheinrich, and “adopted” nephew Jake, whose hockey games Paul traveled long distances to attend, as well as Dave Fletcher and all the “young bucks” at Fitness Masters Gym in Louisville, Ohio.
A memorial service will be held at East Canton Church of God, East Canton, Ohio on September 8, 2022 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the East Canton Church of God’s mission to Uganda to purchase bikes for pastors along with other needed projects.
