Phillips Wayne Andrus

Phillips Wayne Andrus ( Bubby) born April 15, 1954 and transitioned to his new journey on December 28th, 2024 in Akron, OH.

He was joined in glory by his parents, Preston L Andrus Sr. and Mattie Louise (Powers) Andrus; brother, Anthony (Tony) Andrus; sister, Dessena (Dessie) Andrus; neice, Tanishia Andrus; and great nephew, Deandre Andrus. 

He is survived by his brother, Preston L (Jenett) Andrus, Jr. Akron, Ohio; sisters, Barbara (Cleveland) Gastile, of Houston, TX, Jacqueline (Ronald/Country) Jackson, Akron, OH, Anita (Dennis) Milan, Canton OH; a host of  great, and great-great-nieces and nephews who will all miss their Uncle Bubby dearly; special loved ones & caregivers, Rodney and Rita Andrus, Davonte Andrus, and Quanterra Gaines. 

Phillip enjoyed anything related to entertainment. If you had a question about Music, Sports, or Celebrities, his Super Power would kick in and he would give you all the 411! He was also proud of his art and crafts projects and shared them with family. Phillip loved and was also an awesome care giver to his late pets, Sarg, Scrawny, Scraps and Streaks. Hey enjoyed watching tv with his sidekick, Markeyshia. 

In the early 80’s Phillip participated in Special Olympics, which is now a global sports movement to end discrimination against people with intellectual disabilities. 

Phillip was employed by Brown Derby steakhouse at Chapel Hill Mall for many years and Summit County Weaver Workshop. 

The family would like to acknowledge REM day program, Wyoga Lake. There he enjoyed bingo, yoga class, and of course music class. Phillip was fond of all the instructors, but John and Rachel held a special place. Tiffany, his bus driver enjoyed picking him up because he would tell her about singers and keep her up to date on the sports games.
