Raymond “Ray” R. Weiser

Raymond R Weiser, 90 passed away on Thursday the first of September, in his room at Renaissance Assisted Living in Richfield, OH, Ray died peacefully in the presence of loved ones. He was born July 9

th

nineteen hundred and thirty-two (he always said it that way) in Buffalo, NY. As soon as he was old enough, he joined the U.S. Army serving as a Private First Class in the 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Team and served during the Korean Conflict and was the heroic recipient of the Purple Heart.  Additional medals included the United Nations Service Star, Korean Service Medal, 1 Bronze Service Star and the National Defense Service Medal.

After serving his country, he resettled in Buffalo and married the love of his life Colleen A Westmiller.  The union was blessed with a son and two daughters.  He loved boating/fishing, hunting, camping, professional sports and his family.  Ray was a character, he loved to bust everyone’s chops, which is what we all loved about him.  There’s not a waitress east of the Mississippi River that hasn’t fell victim to his signature banter whether they liked it or not. The funny thing about Ray is that if you asked anyone of his kids or grandkids who was his favorite, all would say themselves, that’s because he had so much love to give that he was able to make everyone feel special and so loved by him.

He leaves behind his son — Raymond (Patricia) Weiser Jr, and daughters, Susan (Jeremiah) Lynch, and Teresa (Peter) Crage, longtime companion, Leatrice Kopec, Albert (Ruthann) Weiser, Sara (Andrew) Ovadya, Andrew Andross, who have always been special extended family. Proud Grandfather of Katherine Heritier, Jeremiah Lynch, Bradley Weiser, Alexandria Tomkins, Elizabeth Crage, Courtney Diminuco, Margaret Weiser, and Emily Crage and 6 great grandchildren, who loved him dearly along with numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 40 years, Colleen (Westmiller) Weiser, parents, Vincent and Laura (Wherry) Weiser, brothers, Vincent, and Albert, sisters, Kay, Betty and Doris and nephews, Raymond and Joseph.

A special thank you to the entire staff at Traditions Health for their loving hospice care and support during his final days.
