Richard “Dick” E. Gross age 86, of Strasburg, Ohio, passed away on March 15, 2025, at Aultman Woodlawn following a brief Illness.
Born in Mineral City, on July 3, 1938, Dick was a proud 1956 graduate of Mineral City High School. He went on to earn both a Bachelor’s degree and a MBA in Finance from the University of Akron.
Dick had a long and dedicated career as a Tool Grinder at The Timken Company, where he worked for 42 years in Department 68-1. Outside of his professional life, Dick was a passionate car enthusiast, particularly fond of working on his 1971 Ford Mustang Mach I. He was also an avid race car fan and a loyal supporter of The Ohio State University football team.
Dick is survived by his three children, Erik (Sandy) Gross of Louisville, Shelley (Dave) Epperson of Cincinnati, and Cindy Novak of Akron. He was a proud grandfather to Devon Hoesl of St. Louis, MO, Cassie (Cory) Stace of Cincinnati, Nicole Novak of Canton, and Heather Novak of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Gross and Ada Westbrook Bardin, siblings Wilma Ruof and William Gross, and spouse, Ruth.
Dick will be forever remembered for his charming wit, infectious sense of humor, and the smiles he brought to everyone he met.
In keeping with his wishes, no services will be held. After cremation, Dick will be laid to rest near his family in the Greenlawn Cemetery at Sandyville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to Aultman Hospice, 2821 Woodlawn Ave. N.W., Canton, OH 44708.
