Richard M. Jones

Richard “Dick” M. Jones, age 82, of Akron passed away on January 13, 2023.  He was born and raised in the Kenmore area where he graduated from Kenmore High School in 1959.  Dick went on to work at First Energy Corp. and retired there after 40 years of service in the IT Department.  He enjoyed watching Cleveland sports, and fondly remembered listening to the Indians win the 1948 World Series.  He loved to golf, camp, and bowl and was a proud member on an all-left-handed bowling team with an average over 200.  Dick cherished time with his family and friends and will be dearly missed.

Dick is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Bess Jones; siblings Barbara (Jack) Gaydash, William Jones, and Linda Thompson.  He is survived by his loving wife of almost 49 years, Nancy Jones; children, Tamara (Pat) Shay, Cheryl (Jim) Clark, Laura (Keith) Pettit, and Melissa Cooper; stepdaughters Lisa (Mike) Zepp, and Michelle (Bruce) Sutton; 13 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brother, John Jones; many in-laws, nieces and nephews; and several dear friends.
