Rita Louise Moye

Rita Louise Moye passed away of natural causes on June 22, 2024, at the age of 83. She was born in Elyria, Ohio on September 16, 1940, and spent most of her life living there and in Oberlin, Ohio. She was the middle of three children born to Russell and Florence (Marceau) Marcero. She was preceded in death by her older brother Robert (Wilma) Marcero and younger brother Jim (Tanya) Marcero.

Rita was a loving mother and grandmother, and nothing made her happier than spending time with her family. Babysitting KJ when he was a child was among her favorite memories. She was a life-long Cleveland Guardians fan. She never missed watching their games on television and was as hopeful as anyone that they’d win the World Series. She was an avid reader, and until her passing she read the traditional newspaper every day. She was a spirit-filled and devout Catholic who watched Mass every morning without exception. 

She leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Kenneth Moye of Olmsted Township, Ohio and Lonnie Moye of Elyria Ohio; grandson Kenneth Moye Jr of Olmsted Township, Ohio; niece Sandra Boyd of Lorain, Ohio, nephew Brian Marcero of Elyria, Ohio; and many great-nieces and nephews and extended family.

Rita will be honored in a celebration of life ceremony in July. Arrangements are still being made and will be shared as soon as they are available.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that you donate to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Rita donated to this charity for many years and was very passionate about its mission.
