Bob is survived by loving daughters, JoAnne Sahli (Sheri Brockett) of Oberlin and Krista Burnsworth (Andy) of Rootstown; his true favorite child, granddaughter, Reese Diehl of Rootstown. He also leaves brother, William (Judith) Sahli of Bristolville; sisters, Faye (Dominic) Marciano of Austintown, May (John) Santiago of Utuado, Puerto Rico, and Sandra (Donald) Ambrose of Youngstown; brother-in-law, David (Carolyn) Swain of Diamond; sisters-in-law, Jean (Albert) LaPrade of Jefferson, NH, and Becky (Clyde) Woodruff of Ravenna; and many nieces and nephews who adored him.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Mary Jo (Swain) Sahli, his parents, Dean and Clara (Weeks) Sahli; siblings, James, Myron, Howard, Margaret, and Lillian; and sister-in-law, Jane Van Pelt.
Born in Youngstown on March 15th, 1941, Bob worked in the steel industry for many years and retired from North American Wire of Solon in 2003. He enjoyed yardwork and birdwatching, playing cards with his family and friends, going to breakfast with his buddies, and doting on his treasured granddaughter. Everyone who knew him had a funny story to tell of his smart mouth, quick wit, and mischievous charm. His humor will be missed at many tables.
The family will hold a private memorial at Edinburg Cemetery and celebrate his life with a gathering over the summer. His daughters give special thanks to the family and dear friends who provided their father with support and companionship, allowing him dignity and independence in his last few years.
