Robert Allen Ondecker, 92, passed away peacefully the morning of October 12, 2023.
Born in Akron on December 13, 1930, he attended St. Paul’s Grade School and St. Vincent’s High School (class of 1948), before becoming an employee at General Tire. Starting out as a “mail boy”, he eventually worked his way up to the position of National Manager of Warehouse Operations. Bob was also a veteran, serving in the Korean War from 1951 until 1953. Then, in 1955 he relocated to Detroit for work, and met his eventual wife of 66 years, Nancy (Hart) Ondecker.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents Stephen and Anne Ondecker, his son Michael Ondecker, son-in-law Paul Harrell, and his siblings Rita, James and Marion. He will be forever remembered, cherished and loved by his wife Nancy, brother Thomas and his children Lynn, Kimberly, Stephen (Debbie) and Mary Beth (John); grandchildren Kelly (Jake), Robbie, Rachel (Kevin) and Samantha, as well as his great grandchild Declan.
The family will be hosting a private celebration of life at a later date.
