Roland Cookro, 60, of Barberton passed away July 25, 2023. He met his Lord and Savior face to face. He is no longer in pain and battling the demons of this imperfect world. Roland married the love of his life, Pamela Collins Cookro on August 29, 2008. They met in 1985 and fate brought them back together in 2007. Roland worked at the Daily Record in Wooster, Ohio for 9 years. He then worked at different warehouse jobs until he became disabled in 2017. Roland loved airplanes and owned many battery-operated planes and flew them on a regular basis. He also enjoyed watching Star Trek, listening to music and spending time with his wife and dog. Roland loved his family and enjoyed being with them.
Roland is survived by his loving wife of almost 15 years, Pamela; mothers and fathers-in-law, Dawn and Dan Hoert of Sterling, Ohio and James and Sandy Provence of Tennessee; his brothers-in-law, Edward Patterson of PA., James Provence Jr. of Creston, Ohio, Michael (Anne) Provence of Wooster, Ohio; sister-in-law, Angel (Russ) Workman of Akron, Ohio; brother-in-law, George Sperr of Orrville, Ohio; sister, Debra Smith of Barberton, Ohio; son, Christopher Henderson of Akron, Ohio; Uncle Dan (Liz) Cookro of Phoenix, AZ. and his Aunt Rickie Cookro of Akron, Ohio; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and a granddaughter by marriage, Kinsleigh Rae. Roland also leaves behind his beloved dog, Jack and his cats, Murphy, Jill, Obie and Cammi.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Cookro, his mother, Carol Starcher, brother, David Cookro, Uncle Bob Cookro, cousin, Steven Cookro and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Roland will always be remembered for his contagious laugh. When you heard him laugh, you couldn’t stop yourself from laughing with him. He would also go out of his way to help a friend. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him. Special thank you to Ronnie for your heroic actions during this tragic crisis.
