Ronald L Daum, 69, of Canton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2023 after battling cancer. He was born August 28, 1953, and was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Rosemary (Pamer) Daum. Ron graduated from Lincoln High School and served honorably in the U.S. Navy. He retired from Conrail, where he had spent his career as a Railroad Trackman.
He enjoyed nature, gardening and cooking for his family or friends, often sharing the bounty from his garden. Ron was an avid baseball fan, especially the Cleveland Indians/Guardians, and would get through cold Ohio winters by counting the days until spring training began. He would spend hours managing his own baseball teams while playing Strat-O-Matic Baseball with his son or friends. He loved music and would spin his old vinyl albums at parties and gatherings. Because of his love for history, old movies and westerns, everyone wanted Ron as their teammate for trivia games. He was a kind and gentle man, loved by his family and many friends.
His family, saddened and heartbroken by their loss, include his wife, Barbara G. Huth; son, Ryan (Alicia) Daum; daughter, Kelley (Jordan) Rice; brother Thomas (Sharon) Daum of AZ, and his crazy black cat, Buddy. In addition, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends mourn his passing.
A service will take place at a later date, as it was Ron’s wish to rest at Foxfield Preserve, The Wilderness Center, PO Box 202, Wilmot, Ohio 44689,
