In loving memory of Sam G. Piro

On the evening of January 19, 2025, age 73 Sam Piro passed away with his children by his side. Born February 11, 1951 growing up in Cleveland, Ohio, with his brother, Charles, and sisters, Vinci, and Carmela. Sam graduated Bedford High School in 1969 with an incredible athletic talent excelling in baseball and wrestling. He later was involved in years of softball and bowling leagues creating many friends along the way.

Sam became a Police Officer for the Orange Village Police Department, and later became a Sheriff, for the Geauga County Sheriffs Department. He felt so honored, and privileged! After retiring, Sam had a little left in the tank, and took his police talents to Shaker School district, where he formed great relationships and kept the halls safe.

Sam loved having a motorcycle and taking his kids for rides. His children also loved the police car rides, sirens on, and feeling like super hero’s! With music in his soul, drumming became a passion for Sam. He lived out his rockstar years playing with the band, Steve Radeke and the Sabers. In his later years you could find Sam around the poker table amongst good friends, and Sunday nights eating a bowl of home made pasta sauce and spaghetti.

Sam carries on the Italian Piro legacy with his 4 sons, Sam Jr., Sean, Bryan, Scotty, and daughter, Meghan along with 5 grandkids and grand dogs!

Too many stories, too many good times, but Sam will always be remembered for his good looks, strength, having love for all, and always protecting our cities.
