Sharon Louise Ealey (nee Anstine), 70, of Brecksville, Ohio, passed away on October 1, 2024.
Born in York, Pennsylvania, to Albert Anstine Sr. and Mary Anstine (nee Williams), Sharon attended West York High School, graduating in 1972. She was crowned Miss York County in 1977, earning a scholarship. After preliminary studies elsewhere, she won admission as a voice student to the Curtis Institute of Music, a full scholarship music school and one of the world's most elite conservatories. She performed many times at Curtis, including the contralto soloist role in Beethoven's Ninth Symphony under Robert Shaw's direction at the Academy of Music in Philadelphia and Lincoln Center in New York City in 1981. While at Curtis, she earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Voice in 1983 and a Professional Studies Certificate in Opera, equivalent to a master’s degree, in 1984. She and Lance married in 1983. She was a Christian and a devoted and exceptional wife and homeschooling mother. She was an adoring and adored grandmother. For many years, she was a regular volunteer at a local chapter of the White Cross Circle, a Red Cross-certified Girl Scout leader, and took on many other volunteer roles. Her beautiful singing voice was instantly recognizable and will be missed.
She is survived by her husband, Lance; her daughter, Anastasia Wilson (Jeremiah); her son, Harrison (Elizabeth); two granddaughters, Norah and Clara Ealey; her brother, Albert Anstine Jr. (Georgia); her sister, Nancy Brindle (John); and other extended family.
A public visitation will be held at the Brecksville Community Center in Brecksville, Ohio, on Saturday, November 9, from 12:30 to 5:30 pm. A private family interment will take place at a later date.
