Sharon “Sherry” Elaine Barnes (nee Kinsey), age 72 of Kent, Ohio passed away peacefully on February 7, 2022, after a brief illness.
Sherry was born in 1949, in Huntington, Indiana where she grew up and lived until 1985. She was the second oldest of five siblings and enjoyed her big sister role. Sherry met the love of her life, Danny “Dan” Lee Barnes, in 1966 on Halloween night. While on a date with a different suitor, she ran into Dan and sparks flew. Dan asked Sherry out shortly after the meeting. Sherry’s older sister and best friend, Sue, insisted on going on the first date with them. They were only out a short while before Sherry told Sue she could go home. Sherry already knew Dan was the one. They married on May 28, 1967. Sherry was a devoted wife to Dan and moved several times with Dan to support his career. The first move was from Huntington to Nashua, New Hampshire in 1985. The most recent move was to Kent, Ohio in 2007. Once settled in Kent, Sherry began working for First Energy. Her favorite part of working for First Energy was supporting customers and helping to resolve their issues. She retired from First Energy in 2020. Sherry loved reading, watching movies, visiting with family and friends, and most importantly spending time with Dan and her beloved Main Coon cat, Russell. She will be dearly missed.
Sherry is survived by her loving husband, Dan; her mother Elizabeth “Betty” Daniels; her sisters Sandra (Steve) Arnold, Sheila (Bruce) Blem and her brother Scott (Jackie) Kinsey and numerous nieces and nephews. Sherry is preceded in death by her sister, Sue (Ronnie) Myers, and her nephew Ronnie J. Myers.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
