Sheila Ann Merinen (nee Hallquist) passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at Hospice Services of Southwest General in Strongsville. Sheila was born May 24, 1961 in Minneapolis, MN.
Survivors include her daughter Tracie Lorkowski and son Bradley Merinen; granddaughter Rosalie Lorkowski; father Hjalmer Hallquist; sisters Roxane McGlade, Rhonda Rasmusson and Ann Mueller-Hallquist. She is preceded in death by her mother Marian Hallquist and sister Geri Morgan.
Sheila was known for her spunk and fiery personality. She refused to let her illness get in the way of anything she wanted to do and remained strong and brave in her fight with cancer. She loved going to the casino and doing all sorts of crafts including puzzles, latch hook and coloring. She wanted to be a grandmother for a very long time and almost gave up hope. Finally her wish was granted on September 4, 2016 with the birth of her granddaughter. Sheila was crazy about her and believed Rosalie gave her a second wind at life when she moved in with her and her daughter. She spent the last five months surrounded with love and was the happiest she had ever been. She will be forever loved and missed.
