Stewart "Dick" Clapper, age 81, of Louisville, Ohio, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by loved ones on January 14, 2024. He was born on October 16, 1942, in Canton, Ohio. Dick was a hardworking, caring, but quiet man who was deeply loved by his family. He was also a kind and loyal friend.
Dick attended East Canton High School and worked on local farms for a part time job. He then worked at the East Canton brickyard as a young man. He later went on to have a successful career at Republic Steel, where he worked as a straddle truck driver for an impressive 38 1/2 years and fondly known as "Chopper" to his coworkers.
In his free time, Dick enjoyed attending car shows, exploring garage sales, spending time by the ocean and mountains. He loved sports, passionately supporting the Browns and Cavaliers. He had a true zest for life and cherished these hobbies.
Dick is survived by his beloved wife, Cathy Clapper, his son, Rick Clapper (wife, Tina) his daughters, Sandy Clark, Tina Shuman, and Dawn Gnes. He is also survived by his sister, Gloria Marteney (husband, Perry) and brother Robert Clapper (wife Vicky) along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Stewart Clapper, mother Mary Clapper, sisters, Susie Bee, and Linda Hunter.
A celebration of Dick's life will be announced at a later date. In the meantime, his family and friends will remember him as a hardworking, caring soul who brought joy to their lives.
