On Sunday, January 22, 2023, our beloved mother, Tamara Lynn (Nelson, Fox) Gerhardt, peacefully passed away surrounded by her loved ones. Born to Sharon Robinson and Norm Nelson, in Mansfield, Ohio on June 7, 1958. Tamara was a Mansfield resident for 64 years.
Tamara was married at a young age, raised a family, and went back to school to earn her GED. Tamara took pride in her work ethic and was an office manager, a medical assistant, and became a licensed massage therapist, practicing the arts of wellness. She was a very talented and gifted artist. She loved drawing, painting, sculpting and sewing. She loved creating holiday crafts, generated from her imagination, which became the most sincere, heartfelt treasures received by her loved ones.
Our mother was an animal lover and actively lived her life helping animals. She looked forward to watching the birds visit the feeders and beautiful flowers in her own backyard. Birds weren’t the only visitors mom would entertain. Our family often referred to her lovingly as “Snow White” because birds, butterflies, raccoons, squirrels, deer, cats, and dogs always seemed to gravitate towards her. She would often take in strays, feed the neighborhood cats, and donate to local animal charities. She participated in several fundraisers for Safe Harbor Animal Rescue, and Richland County Dog Shelter.
She is survived by eight siblings and their spouses, Bret Nelson, Brian Nelson,Bobby Snow, Sean and Pam Snow, Kristin and Brady Straub, all of Mansfield. Chris and Meghan Nelson of Columbus, Tina and Bill Palmer of Bellville, Brandon Craft of Ravenna, and Angela and John Puckett of Lexington; 3 children and their spouses, Cassey and Joe Rini of Vermilion, Shane and Sarah Fox, and Jeremy Fox all of Mansfield; 8 grandchildren; and many close friends.
A Celebration of Life is being planned in her honor. Please visit the memorial website at
