Thomas J. (Joseph) Moore of Shaker Heights, Cleveland, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2023, four days before his ninety-first birthday. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Wilfred E. Moore and Clarinda Moore (Ripzinskie), he grew up in Cleveland and was known in his Shaker Heights neighborhood as a friendly and caring landlord.
He went to Our Lady of Angels elementary school on Rocky River Dr., followed by St. Ignatius High School (class of 1950), and graduated from John Carroll University in 1954. At John Carroll University, he was on the track team and ROTC, which led to serving as a second-lieutenant in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956.
After his service, he earned a teaching degree and taught for Cleveland City Schools. Eternally active, he was a scuba diver, treasure hunter, coin collector, archer, and artist. Just before he turned eighty, he took up Japanese Kendo and BoJitsu, which he continued until the start of the pandemic.
He was predeceased by his brother, Richard E. Moore (1933-1996) and first son, Christian T. Moore (1959-1997).
He left behind many friends and family. He leaves behind sons, Vincent Moore of Tiffin, OH, Eric Moore of Buckeye, AZ, and Jason Moore, and close friend Sandra Moore
