Thomas R. Burse of Vermilion, Ohio was born December 14
th
, 1948 in Canton, Ohio to Bob and Betty Burse. Thomas passed away surrounded by family at Mercy Medical Health in Lorain, Ohio on June 14
th
, 2021. He was a proud army veteran who earned his Purple Heart in Vietnam. Thomas retired from Ameritech (AT&T) after 31 years and retired again from the City of Avon Lake after another 10 years. Among many things, Thomas was an avid fisherman and motorcycle enthusiast, specifically devoted to Harley Davidson. He always enjoyed working with any tools he could get his hands on and especially cared for woodworking. He was a life member of Amvets and a longtime member of the American Legion, post 118. Thomas was a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather; so much so, he mastered the art of telling corny dad jokes. In addition, Thomas loved to give; he volunteered much of his time to the Louisville High School (LHS) Band Boosters and was a Cub Scout Leader for Pack #44.
Thomas is preceded in death by his mother and father, Betty and Bob Burse, and his brother, Scott Burse.
Thomas is survived by his loving wife of nearly 49 years, Gudrun (Gertie) Burse; brother, Ted (Denise) Burse; sisters, Bonnie (David) Hamann and Marsha (Larry) Coley; brother-in-law, Johann (Sharon) Goettl; sons, Brian (Lori) Burse and Clifford Burse; daughter, Elizabeth McCauley; grandchildren, Michael, Patrick, Adam, Daniel, Victoria, Abigail, Quinton, Brittney, Samantha, and Vincent; great-grandchildren, Aleistar, Murdoch, Persephone, and Milliana; along with several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on July 5
th
, 2021 at Paquelet-Falk Funeral Home: 303 S. Chapel St. Louisville, Ohio 44641. Friends and family will be received starting at 5pm with services beginning at 6pm. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to any veteran’s organization.
