Thomas E. Thompson, age 79 passed away peacefully on October 4th, 2024 with his family by his side. He was born on January 2nd, 1945 in Windham, Ohio, the son of the late Earl and Emma Thompson.
He was a graduate of Windham High School, Kent State University and Northwest Missouri State University. Tom served his country during the Vietnam War with the United States Army’s 20th Engineer Battalion. He returned from military service in 1970 and built a State Farm Insurance Agency in Howland Township which he ran for 30 years providing excellent service to his clients until he retired in 2002. Tom was a very social person and he made many friends in the community. He very much loved dogs and enjoyed taking his dog for a walk as he also saw this as an opportunity to say hello to the neighbors. But most of all, he loved his family and was very proud of his three beautiful granddaughters.
He was a member of the church, American Legion, Kent Civil War Society and the Windham Historical Society. Tom was a dedicated fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes, enjoyed all genres of music and was an avid reader.
Tom will be missed greatly by his friends and family. He will be remembered for his kind heart and care for those who knew him. He is survived by his children Darren Thompson, Mark Thompson (Lauren), Rebecca Foltz (Paul); his brother Roger Thompson (Tyra); and his beloved granddaughters Madyson, Kaylee and Meagan. He was preceded in death by his father Earl, mother Emma and sister Nancy.
