Victor M. Cockrell Jr

November 2, 1928 — February 23, 2025

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Victor M. Cockrell Jr., who left us on February 23, 2025, at the age of 96. He was born on November 2, 1928, in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Victor M. Cockrell Sr. and Mary (Timko) Cockrell.

Victor was a devoted and loving husband to Dolores (Nawrocki) Cockrell. He is survived by his children, Richard and his wife Mary Ann, stepson Don Kaczmarek and his wife Lori, and his late son Robert, who was married to Faye. Victor was a cherished grandfather to Christina (Jason Michaels), Vanessa (Chad Heller), Sara (Don Wolfe), Robert Cockrell (Katie), Matt Kaczmarek, and Nicole Morris (Mike) . He was also a proud great-grandfather to Natile, Elizabeth, Hannah, Remi, and his great-grandchild Avery Morris.

Victor was born into a large, loving family and was the beloved brother of the late Irene Ross (Angelo), Stella Hancak (Edward), Robert Cockrell (Theresa), and Mary Ann Shores (Bill). He is also survived by his sister Ethel Praznik (the late Iggy), as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Victor’s life was marked by his unwavering faith and dedication to his community. He was a long-time member of St. Catherine Catholic Church in Florida, where he served as an usher and Eucharistic Minister. He was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus in Sebring, Florida, for nearly 40 years. Victor took great pride in his service as a member of Teamsters Local 436, where he worked as a cement truck driver and served as a union steward.

In addition to his professional and community achievements, Victor was passionate about the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating. His service to his country as a Merchant Marine is also a testament to his character and dedication.

Victor lived in Florida for almost 50 years, where he touched the lives of many with his kindness, generosity, and friendship. He was a beloved uncle and a dear friend to many, and his legacy of love, faith, and service will continue to inspire all who knew him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to a charity of your choice in his name. Condolences and special memories of Victor can be shared with his family online at www.heritagecremationsociety.com
