Victor Falk

Victor (Viktor) A. Falk, P.E., passed away peacefully, Sunday, December 10, 2023 in Westlake, Ohio. Beloved husband of Margaret (nee Szabadhegyi); dear father of Miklos (Digna) and Mary; loving grandfather of Christian Falk; brother of Ildiko Peller.

Mr. Falk was born in Hungary and lived a happy childhood there until the brutality and chaos of WWII forced the family to escape and become refugees in Austria. The family came to the United States in 1949 and eventually to Cleveland, Ohio. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and upon his honorable discharge studied at Cleveland State University (Fenn College) and graduated with degree in electrical engineering. He worked as a professional engineer until his retirement, receiving several patents for his innovative ideas. He married the love of his life, Margaret, raised two children and celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary this past summer.

Victor was a veteran of the U.S. Army and always proud to have served his country. At the same time he never forgot where he came from, nurturing the ideals and traditions of his heritage and was an active member of St. Emeric Parish where he served as Eucharistic minister and lector for many years.

Victor was always a devoted and active volunteer in the American-Hungarian community of Cleveland, he enriched many events as keynote speaker at commemorations, as lecturer in the Hungarian School sharing his extensive knowledge of Hungarian history, as an active Scout and troop leader of Troop 14 (414) for 10 years, and as captain of the Order of St. Laszlo, among other things. He received many acknowledgements and awards for his wide range of volunteer activities.

He was a devout loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and a true friend to many. He was very proud of his children and grandson and their accomplishments. Funeral Mass will be 11:00 am Saturday, January 6, 2024, at St Emeric Church 1860 W. 22nd St. Cleveland, Ohio. Inurnment will be private at Sunset Memorial Park, Hungarian Section. Donations in his memory may be made to St. Emeric Church, 1860 W. 22nd St., Cleveland, OH 44113.
