Our dear mother, Violet Drain, age 87, passed away surrounded by her loving family on August 5, 2024. She spent her final days in Beavercreek OH, with her son Steve and his wife Tammy.
Violet was born in Aberdeen, Scotland on March 8,1937 to Charles and Violet Massie. She graduated high school in Scotland. As a young teen, she was training to be an Olympic swimmer and to swim the English Channel. In her spare time, she worked repairing fishing nets for the fisherman on the docks. She came by boat with her parents at the age of 18 to become a US citizen. Violet worked full time as a bookkeeper until the age of 85, ending her career at Shamrock Hose & Fittings in Cleveland, Ohio. Our family would like to express our gratitude to Tim O’Shaughnessy and his staff. This company loved her as family and took incredibly loving care of her. She loved going to work and spending her days with her work family, they meant everything to her. She was a friend to many, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and strength.

WHEN TOMORROW STARTS WITHOUT ME
When tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand. That an angel came and called my name and took me by the hand. The angel said my place was ready, in Heaven far above. And that I’d have to leave behind all those I dearly love. But when I walked through Heaven’s Gates, I felt so much at home, for God looked down, smiled at me, and told me “Welcome Home.” So, when tomorrow starts without me, don’t think we’re far apart, for every time you think of me, I’m right there in your heart.
