Together Again
William “Bill” Ranson Cross, age 86, of Uhrichsville, passed away June 3rd, 2023, at home praying to the Lord on his knees. Bill was born on October 29th, 1936, in Meridian, Mississippi to the late William Ranson and Hortense (Freeman) Cross. Bill was a loving husband, brother-in-law, uncle, stepfather, and a friend to all, and a stranger to no one. He was employed at Giant Eagle, and previously worked at Lockheed California Aircraft. He was a flight line mechanic and missile assembler. He also did general dynamics/astronautics. He was a member of the 4 Square Gospel church of Uhrichsville. He loved to fish, hunt, and tell his war and bull-riding stories with a beer in hand. He was a proud United States Marine.
William is survived by his sisters-in-law, Jeannie (John) Tarleton who took care of him, Jackie (John) Vosick of Dennison; stepdaughter, Georgjean Elmore of New Philadelphia; stepson, Donald (Cristy) Fellers of Tuscarawas; three grandchildren, Devon Elmore, Jeff Elmore, and Tyler Calhoun; nieces and nephews, Kaleb (Courtney) Tarleton, Markie Tarleton, Kody (Alyssa) Murphy, Kari (Jake) Gallagher, Marcia (Jimmy) Shamel, Johnna (Randy) Milburn, Erik (Wina) Hathaway, Stacy Scott; and caregivers, Ruth Stow and Patti Bosetti.
In addition to his parents Bill is preceded in death by his wife, Linda (Honey Bear), father-in-law, Gene “Bull” Crites and mother-in-law, Wanda (Craft) Crites; brothers, Mark Crites and John L. Scott; and son-in-law, Jeff Elmore.
