William Gerry Meek passed away August 29, 2022, at a nursing home and under the care of Hospice. “Gerry” was born August 3, 1949, in Canton, Ohio. He passed away peacefully as a result of vascular Dementia which destroyed his mind and then his body.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Dorothy Meek.
Gerry attended Jackson High School and graduated from Barber College and had worked in Canton with his cousins at Myers Lake Plaza in his early years. He also was certified in HVACR and spent most of his adult life working for companies in Florida, Pennsylvania and Ohio.
He enjoyed playing cards with family and friends and loved fishing. He had a quick wit, a great sense of humor and could find the bright side in the worse of situations. He loved listening to music, especially “the oldies” and he loved the Browns.
Gerry is survived by his wife and soulmate of 42 years, Jennifer Kristine, of Massillon; his sister, Caryn Merkel, of Louisville, Ohio; a son, from a previous marriage, William Gerry (Sam) Meek Jr of Cambridge, Ohio; two nieces, Nicole (Mike) Wilcox and Caleigh Merkel. Gerry is survived by his dear friend “Cookie Lady”, Marsha Williams, and longtime friend, John Gattuso, both of Massillon. He is survived by his father-in-law, Donald (Pat) Shank; his sisters-in-law, Kathy (Mike) Connelly and Becky Hilton, all of Manheim, PA; stepdaughters, Amy (Nick) Debaltzo, Julie (Dave) Dicillo; stepson, Larry (Kristin) Rieck; and eight step-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Margaret Shank, and sister-in-law, Barbara Wise
