William (Bill) Mikusa, beloved husband, father, brother, grandparent and friend was welcomed into life eternal Friday March 21, 2025.
He was born at home on April 2, 1937, to Czechoslovakian immigrants, Vincent and Irma Mikusa. Bill graduated from Timken Vocational High School in 1955 and earned a degree in Architecture at The Ohio State University in 1964. He worked for several architectural firms over the years and retired from GPD Group in Akron in 2002.
Bill was a lover of the outdoors and spent endless hours working in his yard until it was perfectly manicured. He was a proud member of the NRA and had a passion for hunting, in which he spent over 30 years hunting deer on Terrace Mountain in PA with his life-long friend, Ed Sutek and a host of other buddies. In addition to deer, caribou, pronghorn, fox, duck and turkey mounts hang proudly in his home. He also loved fishing, whether casting out in waders or in his trusty Jon-boat, at the cabin or at the cottage in NY.
He enjoyed walks in the woods, taking time to really “see” everything. He preferred to take the back roads, rather than the highway. His daughters have fond memories of those trips, often stopping to picnic and singing together as they drove. The family spent many summers at Salt Fork boating, camping and sharing stories around the campfire.
He loved trains and spent many hours watching and reading about them. His thirst for knowledge was wide-spread and he was well informed about a vast variety of subjects and was able to provide an in-depth explanation and information regarding such.
At family gatherings, Bill liked to sit back and take it all in, making cassette recordings and more recently, videos. Bill never liked to be the center of attention. He was a kind man, who led by example.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, twin infant daughters Denise and Diana, sister Sylvia Mikusa and his buddy of 83 years, Ed Sutek.
Family was his number one priority and brought him the greatest joy. When speaking of his grandchildren, his smile could light up the room. Left to carry on his legacy is the love of his life, his wife of 64 years, Roberta (Bobbi) Mikusa whom he truly adored. Daughters Lori Mikusa and Amy (Scott) Johnson, sister Edith Morgese, 7 grandchildren: Joseph (Ashley), Andy (Abby), Devin (Kate), Ethan (Colby), Alyssa (Alex) Porter and Kegan and Eli Silovich, four great-grandsons Tanner and Payton Bessette, Luca and Liam Silovich and a great-granddaughter, Hazel Silovich. He is also survived by his godson, Vic Sutek.
