William Shields passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Heights, Ohio with his children by his side.
He was born December 19, 1949 in Cleveland, Ohio and grew up in Mayfield where he graduated from Mayfield High School. Mr.Shields was a lifetime Mayfield and Euclid resident.
Bill loved bowling, golfing, riding his bike, and watching all of the Cleveland sports teams. He was also a huge movie buff and video gamer. He loved spending his summers around the baseball diamonds. He was a baseball and softball umpire for many years and had been a Euclid softball scorekeeper for the past decade or so. Bill was a past member of the Club 59’ers and The Irish American Club. In 2010 he fulfilled his lifetime dream of visiting Ireland.
Bill is survived by his sons Anthony M (Katherine) Shields of Willoughby and Jeffrey D. Shields, his daughter Jodi L. Shields of Willowick; loving grandfather of Anthony and Matthew Shields, Summer Zimmerman, Steven, Jacob, and Jasmine Jenkins, Ashley Ramos, and Jeffrey D. Pavlica; great-grandfather of William Isabella. Bill was preceded in death by his parents William M and Elizabeth (Yukasz) Shields, and a half sister Emily Zawacki.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at Game of Mentor bowling center in Mentor, Ohio on
May 14th, 2017 from 2-5 pm
